Ethiriel had fallen asleep on the ride back to the forest. She was very tired and cold. She kept a tight hold on Haldir the entire time. She was awake enough to know that no matter what she never left his side. When she finally woke up from her long nap she had to bury her face in Haldir's chest. There was white sitting next to them. When she glanced that way She saw a beautiful elf sitting there making a little dress.
Galadriel had decided to sit with Haldir while he rested making a dress for the small elf that resided with him. She wanted to talk to him about the ordeal in which he found her and saved her from. The little ones mind was so fragile and memories swarming it actually gave her a headache to look and she didn't want to pry into Haldir's resting mind so she just waited. She had seen a good amount from the other two but she wanted to make sure her children were okay and now there was another one to add. She had a feeling she would be sitting for Haldir a lot once he was better.
She watched Galadriel but never moved from her spot on Haldir. She was curious about the elf but was still to scared and shy to try talking.

Haldir: ***flash back*** He had arrived in Caras Galadhon looking very haggard. The right side of his chest was throbbing horridly and he had let no one remove the broken arrow shaft yet for fear of great blood loss, and the makeshift bandage on his side was stained crimson. As they grew nearer to healers flet He reined his horse to a stop and signaled for Maethor to kneel. The stallion keeled down and Haldir swung his leg over the Maethor's neck and stood. Haldir swayed a bit and removed one of his hands from the bundle he held and placed said hand onto Maethor;s strong body for support till the dizziness stopped. Haldir Made his way painfully up the short flight of stairs and knocked on the door of the healer's door. He felt the eyes of his brothers on him but ignored them. 'They are simply going to come and irritate me later.' he thought, 'but for now they will do as I instruct and gather and send the other patrol out early so the ones that fought could come home.'. Haldir's thinking was brought to an end when the door opened and the Eleth stood and then went wide eyes as she took in the countenance of the March Warden.
"Ai Elbereth Captain What has befallen you..." Her voice was soft as she saw the sleeping child in his arms.
"Yrch happened but explanations can wait." Came the curt reply. He felt his vision swim again and wanted nothing more than to sit and rest.
The healer ushured him inside and closed the door and motioned him towards one of the beds. Haldir Gladly sat down, and watched the healer as she went about getting what she needed and set water over the fire to boil. He eventually turned his gaze onto the young child in his arms, she looked.....so innocent and peaceful, his heart clenched suddenly at the idea of letting her go to another but what of his duty as March Warden..... He looked up as the healer returned with everything she needed and layed everything out neatly on a side table.
"The child will have to be set down so that I may treat you properly as that arrow can not stay in your chest." The healer said softly. She reached forward to take the child and lay her on the other open bed to sleep. The reaction was NOTHING she expected. The child screamed and she jumped back and released the child as Haldir tried to quiet the child as his now throbbing head was not at all greatful for the scream. "I did not harm her did I? She is not injured?" The healer inquired after Haldir with much coaxing managed to quiet the child.
"Nay she is not injured from what I could see," Haldir looked over to the poor healer, "She did the same to Rumil when he tried to take her to make traveling easier on me."
"I see so a separation issue..." The healer said quietly
"So it would seem, she has been clinging to me since I rescued her."
Haldir then turned his attention to the child, and after MUCH time and MUCH coaching and yet more promises he managed to get the child to let go long enough to get his wounds cleaned, treated and sutured closed and wrapped and a fresh tunic and even tidy his golden hair so that it was not falling in his face. Though during the process of his wound being treated the Lady Galadriel had come in and aided the healer. The little elfling started to whine and cry till Haldir lifted her into his arms and layed down as both the healer and his lady instructed, and he soon drifted to sleep. ***end flash back***
Haldir began to stir and he felt something burrow or try to burrow into him. His mind was fuzzy and he opened his eyes slowly as the events came rushing back at him. He placed his gaze onto the Child clutching his fresh tunic with her little fists, he raised a hand and placed it on her back and rubbed soothing circles. Haldir's gaze then landed on the lady of light whom was seated by his bed side.
"My lady, you do not have to remain by my bed side...." His voice was soft and he still felt tired.

She turned to him a smile on her face. "Ah but i did want to have a word with you about what happened out there and about the child. I tried to take a look see but her mind is swarming with all sorts of memories that it gave me a headache so i didn't look at yours. Besides it is easier to make a dress for the little one if i can see her." She held up the almost done dress. It needed a bit more to the design to be nice.
She looked at the dress and reached out to touch it. It was soft and a pretty blue color. She placed her hand back on Haldir and fisted his tunic in her hand. This lady seemed calm but she was still unsure.

Haldir: He let his eyes go back to the child. Yes the extra weight on his chest bothered him, the pressure so close to his wound but he ignored it. He sigh and closed his weary eyes for a few moments.
"My brothers and I had went to the borders to greet and escort the company from Mirkwood as Lord Celeborn had instructed. To guide them through the woods and to the Redhorn pass where we would meet up with the guards of Imladris. The only issue. the orcs beat us, they found them and the foul creatures were already upon them and in numbers." He sighed and closed his eyes continuing to retell the events from memory. From the orc grabbing the little elfling and the dropping of the child into the swelling and rushing Anduin river and his rescue of the child.
He finished his tale and gave a muffled grunt and held his eyes shut before opening them again and looked down at the elfling. "Watch your feet child, my side is not yet mended......" He felt the child curl up more in response he knew she did not mean to put pressure on his wound.

Ethiriel indeed felt bad for hurting Haldir. She watched the lady with intrest but made sure not to move to much or leave Haldir. She stayed attached but wiggled her way off of him and to his unwounded side. She buried her head in his side hiding herself from Galadriel's sight.
She nodded to Haldir. "You had quite the adventure it seems. I will give your report to Celeborn. You rest now I will be back to check on you in a few hours. She chuckled at the child and slowly left leaving the two be.
Eth watched her leave and then looked to Haldir and uttered one little word. "Ada?"

Haldir watched as Galadriel walked from the room, the room dimming slightly as she left. He felt his eyes begin to close as his weary and aching body told him to rest.
"Ada?"
His eyes snapped open and his heart froze at that one word and great grief washed over him. Did she think he was her father? In all her torment and events cause her memory to laps and forget what befell her birth parents. No he was not her Adar nor could he be.....Could he? He had a duty to carry out a job to do that he did so with honor and carried out his duty as he felt was necessary. There was no way he could take up the role of parenting. He would not be able to give her the time she needed.
"Nay child......" He closed his eyes sadly, "I am not your adar."

She began to whine. "Ada, Ada." She gripped his tunic. "Ada, Ada, Ada, Ada" She knew both her birth parents were dead but she wanted the comfort this man gave her and she was determined to make that so. She buried her face in his chest. "Ada Ada."

(You....SUCK........Pulling at the warden as such....)
The cries pulled at his heart but he steeled his face. He had so many duties to fulfill how was he to care for a child? His Flet was not even arranged for the likes of such a young child, he would have to have new cabinates made with locking mechanisms to child proof them. He had rooms plenty as he lived in the flet that used to belong to his parents. But his work, his role as March Warden was a demanding one. His heart was being tugged in two directions, the desire to protect and keep his home safe as he so swore to his Lord and Lady, and the desire to protect and keep this child and nurture her.
He closed his eyes and thoughts raced through his head. Perhaps his Lord and Lady could care for the child? He wrapped an arm securely around the child, Even if they could care for her and he knew they could, they did after have the experience, Would He be willing to let her go? For the small child had already managed to sneak past his defenses and make a home in his heart. He sighed unsure of what choice he was to make.

"Ada no go. Ada protect Eth." She sniffled. That was the promise both men gave to her. that they would never leave and always protect her. "Ada pwease?" She looked up at him tears starting to fall down her face once again. "No go." Her bottom lip quivered as the tears slowly fell, she was trying to hold her cries back.

Haldir was battling an internal warfare, His duty to the golden wood and the new found duty he felt towards this elfling that he rescued. His heart clenched every time she called him by what he was not, Ada. Yes he did promise her he would let no harm befall her and yes he promised he would never leave her, but this was not something he could decide on a whim.
'What am I to do. . . .' He thought, 'what is the right path for me to choose, should I choose to take up the care of this child My duty as march warden will. . . . .be forfeit.' He knew this to be true his duty would be forfeit for a time if not indefinitely.
His thoughts stopped when she gave a hint to her name. Perhaps he could divert her attention with other thoughts. "Eth is that part of your name child?" He asked his voice calm and gentle.

Haldir sighed inwardly, so much for distracting her from calling him ada.
"Ethiriel, tis a lovely name penneth." He responded avoiding subject of ada.
Oh what Haldir would GIVE for one of his brothers to walk in at this moment. To prove a distraction, for that would most certainly get the child to forget for a short time at least to stop calling him ada. Well nither was here at this point in time so he would have to come up with other ideas.
"What if your favorite animal penneth?" He asked quietly.
Perhaps more idle talk would distract her? Though his body was screaming at him to rest.
